Myrtle Beach, SC – Mr. Frank C. “Buck” Ratliff, 98, formerly of Wadesboro, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Myrtle Beach. A service to celebrate his life with military honors will be held at 2:00PM Thursday by the graveside at Morven Cemetery conducted by Rev. Katie Sloan. The family does not plan to hold a formal visitation but issues an invitation for the public to come by the Leavitt Funeral Home on Wednesday between 9AM and 5PM to pay their respects. The family plans to announce a memorial service to be held at Morven Presbyterian Church following the lifting of the Covid-19 resrictions. A native of Anson County, Buck was born May 22, 1922, son of the late James Franklin and Lena Shoemaker Ratliff. He lived and worked in the Charlotte area as an automobile body repairman having worked at several body shops before retiring from Toyota of Charlotte in 1984. Later that year, Buck and his wife, Julia, returned to his Wadesboro roots to further enjoy his retirement. Buck was a proud WWII veteran of the US Army and a member of Morven Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing but his greatest joy came from gardening! Survivors include three children, Don Ratliff (Lewana) of Mint Hill, Cynthia Ratliff (Jimmy White) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jay Ratliff (Sherry) of Mt. Holly; 3 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Guy Ratliff of Wadesboro and Joe Ratliff of Rock Hill, SC; and two sisters, Sarah Livingston of Cheraw, and Clara Hendrick Florence, SC. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Purvis Ratliff and his siblings, Monroe Ratliff, Myrtle Hildreth, Floyd Ratliff, Lena Albright, and Johnny Ratliff. The family suggest memorials be made to Morven Presbyterian Church, PO Box 274, Morven, NC 28119.
