PEACHLAND – On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Mrs. Audrey Dennis Stegall, 77, passed away peacefully at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 29, 2026, at Peachland United Methodist Church with Rev. Luke Christy officiating. Interment will follow in Peachland Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church and other times at her home.
Audrey was born October 2, 1948, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late H.A. Dennis and the late Sybil Lowe Dennis. She was a graduate of Bowman High School and had worked with the Anson County Council on Aging as the Peachland Meal Site Manager.
She was an active member of Peachland United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. In her service at the church, she was often the greeter on Sunday mornings distributing the bulletins for the service and worked with the Lamplighters afterschool program. She dearly loved her church family and supported the church in its missions.
Audrey enjoyed spending time with her family and going on trips to the beach and mountains with them. She could often be found sitting on her front porch talking on the phone and watching Cardinals.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Jennifer Morton (Bryan) of Stanfield, Joy Honbarrier (Justin) of Kannapolis, Jessica Swanner (David) of Stanfield, and Leland Stegall (Amber) of Peachland; her grandchildren, Hunter Price (Bailey) of Locust, Jase Price of Kannapolis, Matthew Swanner of Stanfield, Savannah Clemons (Dustin) of Albemarle, and L.J. Stegall of Peachland; her great-grandson, Brenton Price; her sisters, Jeanette Vaughn (Thurmond) of Mt. Airy and Shirley Dennis of Liberty, TN; her niece, Candy Dennis of Wadesboro who she loved like a daughter and her aunts, Martha Goodwin and Wilma Dennis both of Lilesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Stegall and by her brother, Claude Dennis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lamplighters at Peachland United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 330, Peachland, NC 28133.
