Barbara Jean Coble Mrs. Burr

Barbara Jean Burr, 67, passed away on April 9, 2012 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. She was born on April 4, 1945 in Rockingham NC, a daughter of the late Daniel and Bernice Coble. She fell in love with and married David Burr on September 8, 1962, and the marriage stood strong for almost 50 years. In later years this delightful couple simply became known as Grandma and Pop to everyone. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband David; children Tammy Eitzman, Ondria (Victor) Tucker, and David Burr, Jr (Rebecca); grandchildren include Randi, Adam, Drake, Alishia, Cassondra, Erika, Katie Ann, Kerrie, Jessica and Trey; great granddaughter Kaylynn; brothers include D. A. Coble and Jerry Coble; sisters are Betty Coble and Lois Goodwin. Barbara will always be remembered as a loving, faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother, beloved friend and master gardener of flowers. She lived a life that embraced family and friends and was a special friend who always put the needs and wishes of others ahead of herself. She served faithfully at her church, Abundant Life of Florence, for many years because faith ran through her life like a river. She changed the world with her radiant smile, kind words, loving heart and sincere thoughtfulness. Barbara treasured the relationship of each of her grandchildren and one great grandchild calling them her 'garden.' Each grandchild wrote glowing letters of love and gratitude to Grandma and Pop after their visits and Barbara saved many of these letters in her well worn Bible. Many times the letters contained these words 'I love you all the way to the moon and back and all around the world.' Her spirit will continue to be with us and in us, and we will love and miss her forever. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all the friends, neighbors, church families, doctors and nurses of the Trauma Surgical Care Unit of McLeod Hospital and McLeod Hospice House who have prayed diligently and have provided unfailing support to the family in so many different ways. The family will greet friends at Leavitt Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 on Wednesday, April 11, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 in the chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, 2036 Morven Road in Wadesboro, NC 28170. A celebration service of life will also be held at 10:00 on Thursday, April 12, at Abundant Life Church in Florence, SC. Memorials may be made in her loving memory to Abundant Life Church, 3030 South Irby Street, Florence SC, 29505 for the Children's Ministry.
