Betty Sue Huneycutt

WADESBORO - On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Mrs. Betty Sue Huneycutt, 95, passed away peacefully at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the church before the service and at the home beginning Thursday, September 3, 2026, until the day of the service.

Betty Sue was born June 21, 1931, in Oakboro, NC, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Jackson Huneycutt and the late Clemma Blythe Richardson Huneycutt. She was a graduate of Oakboro High School, where she played basketball.

She had a long and successful career in textiles for more than 40 years, which began with Abby Manufacturing and ultimately retired with the same company,  under the name of Medical Specialties.

Betty Sue was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro, for more than 70 years. She was a member of the Special Interest Sunday School class. She was faithful in her attendance until her health declined and was able to celebrate her 95th birthday in a worship service in June.

She and her late husband, Aaron, enjoyed square dancing, and they once danced at the World's Fair in Knoxville, TN. She was an excellent seamstress and often made clothing for herself and her children. She will be remembered as one of the best-dressed ladies in town, never a hair out of place, dressed with just the right accessories, high heels, and red lipstick. She also made sure Aaron was dressed as a true southern gentleman.

Betty Sue will be remembered as a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Clark of Polkton, Saundra Tucker (Lane) of Supply, Milea Broadaway (Richard ) of Polkton and Chip Huneycutt of Peachland; her grandchildren, Felecia Diggs (Kenny) of Polkton, Adam Drye (Katie) of Cary, Jason Broadaway of Polkton, Erin Rene' Peno (Johnny) of Sneads Ferry, Jamie Huneycutt (Brandy) of Lumberton, Ashley Campbell (Trey) of Ruby, SC and Presleigh Pittman (Jacob) of Monroe; her great-grandchildren, Graceson Rose Diggs of Polkton, Nola Drye of Cary, Geirgia Campbell and Sunni Campbell both of Ruby, SC, Lacy Gray Huneycutt, Ella Kate Huneycutt, and Aaron Founatin all of Lumberton and Carter Pittman of Monroe and her neices and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Huneycutt, and by her brothers and sisters, Jack, oe, Carolyn, Dottie, and Don.

The family is most grateful to the staff of Anson Community Hospice, a division of Richmond County Hospice, for the excellent care they provided for Betty Sue and, most recently, to the staff at the Hospice Haven in Rockingham for allowing her to transition through her last days with peace and dignity.
