Betty Jean Melton Rogers

            WADESBORO – On Betty Jean Melton Rogers, 93, passed away peacefully at her home.


            Betty was born March 1, 1930 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Roy Boyd Melton and the late Hattie Mae Meeks Melton. She was a graduate of Wadesboro High School. She had worked at Wade Manufacturing as an inspector but will be remembered most for having worked for 18 years at Scarborough Hardware in Wadesboro and as a private duty in home care giver.


            For many years, she was a member of Wade Baptist Church until it’s closing and after that she attended Southside Baptist Church but most recently, Calvary Baptist Church with her family.


            Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kay Hildreth of Gastonia, Beverly Adams (Willie) of Lilesville, Terry Rogers of Winnsboro, SC, Betsy Rogers of Monroe and William Rogers of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Chuck Hildreth (Suzanne Piri) of Charlotte, Cristy Goodwin (Michael) of Lilesville and Clay Rogers (Karen) of Winnsboro, SC; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters and brother, Irene Candill of Ft. Pierce, FL, Nancy Sizemore of Box Springs, GA and Richard Melton (Priscilla) of Ft. Pierce, FL.


            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lori “DeDe” Dean; her great-grandson, Jonathan Hildreth; and her brothers and sister, William, Polly, Peg, Vonnette, “Boots” and Leroy.


            The family will have a private graveside service in Anson Memorial Park.
