Betty Jo Derr Hamilton

            LILESVILLE – On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Mrs. Betty Jo Derr Hamilton, 71, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Anson in Wadesboro.

            There will be a memorial service at 4:00 PM Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Mims officiating.

            The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

            Betty Jo was born November 12, 1951, in Custer County, NE and was a daughter of the late Melvin Louis Derr and the late Virginia Irene Newlun Derr. She worked in healthcare for a number of years.

            She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church. She dearly loved her church family and was often involved in cooking for church gatherings. She lived her faith in God before others.

            Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jamie Maatsch (Carol) of Beatrice, NE, Sherry Marchi (Thomas) of San Jose, CA, Shawn Hamilton (Mary Beth) of Marysville, WA and Rebecca Schram of Lilesville; her grandchildren, Kaylee Hamilton and Sebastian Schram; her sister, Melba Jean Gressley (Darrell) of Monett, MO; her nieces and nephews and their families and her faithful canine companion, Roxy.

            Betty Jo’s family is most grateful to her church family and what they all meant to her life and especially her dear friends, Jennifer Barber and Linda Knotts for all they have done to support her and be there for her.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Dean Hamilton and her sister, Jenny Lee Kellogg.
