Betty Newsome Mrs. Meachum

Wadesboro - Mrs. Betty Jo Newsome Meachum, 74, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Buford Lanter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 2:00PM. Betty was born in Anson County on December 27, 1937, a daughter of the late Charlie Blake and Ruby Carpenter Newsome. She was married to the late James Franklin Meachum. Survivors include four sons, Tony (Ellen) Meachum of Penrose, NC, Barry (Marcia) Meachum of Lilesville, Ashley Meachum and Ron Meachum of the home; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother and sister, Jerry Blake Newsome of Peachland and Brenda (Tommy) Yarbrough of Marshville. Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
