WADESBORO – On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Mrs. Brenda Carter Baker, 84, passed away peacefully at Dahlia Gardens Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Because Brenda and WJ’s wedding anniversary would be October 7, the family has planned a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko officiating.

Brenda was born March 26, 1941, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Wilson Eugene Carter and the late Minnie Bunn Carter. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School and had worked for many years with Scarborough Hardware in Wadesboro.

She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where she had been active in the Sunday School department, cemetery committee, WMU and vacation Bible school.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Troy Martin of Albemarle; her granddaughter, Haley Martin of Albemarle; her aunt, Lib Lear of Charlotte; her children of the heart, Patti Poulnott, Amy Hildreth (Sean), Wendy Treadaway and Linda Adcock (Bucky); her bonus grandchildren, Jackson Poulnott, Nathan Hildreth, Jessica Bowers, Taylor Treadaway and Laci Treadaway; She dearly loved her family and time shared with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Jackson “WJ” Baker, Jr.; her sons, Frederick Baker and Jackie Baker and her brother, Paul Carter.

The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for all the love and care they have shown to Brenda and the family, to Rev. Mark Perko and the Deep Creek Church family for the outpouring of love and support given them and to his nephew, Donnie Murdock for his support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1198 Rockingham Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379.
