WADESBORO – On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, Mrs. Carol Harrington Williams, 72, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Pineville with her family gathered at her bedside.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Carol was born July 1, 1953, in Union County, NC and was a daughter of the late Robert Marvin Harrington and the late Martha Nell Medlin Harrington. She was a graduate of Sun Valley High School.
She worked for a number of years with Cooper Tools in Monroe and later worked with Neat Tans and Jones Creek Seafood Restaurant in Wadesboro.
Carol was a no-nonsense kind of person. What you saw was what you got. Although sometimes she came across tough, she would be the first to give the shirt off her back to someone in need.
She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren especially. Trips to the beach and any time she could wear flipflops were among her favorites.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband of 24 years, Russell Williams; her children, John Benton, Jr. (Caroline) of Peachland and Jessica Helms (David) of Marshville; her grandchildren, who she adored, Dawson Helms, Madison Benton, James Helms, Isabel Benton and Gabe Benton; her fur baby, Buddy; her brother, Allen Harrington (Frances) of Monroe; her mother-in-law, Rochelle Williams of Wadesboro; her sister-in-law, Rhonda Treadaway (Mark) of Wadesboro; her brother-in-law, Robert Williams (Natalie) of Morven and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Harold Harrington and by her sister, Ann Melton.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
