WADESBORO Mrs. Carolyn Trexler Taylor, 67, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Thursday, June 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Yvonne Hechler and Rev. Sydney Pratt officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son. Carolyn was born October 22, 1951 in Anson County, NC a daughter of Ruby Steele Trexler and the late Clyde Hart Trexler. She was a graduate of Bowman High School and first worked as a secretary for Security Ford in Wadesboro and for her father, at Wadesboro Motors. She later became personnel director for West Knitting Mills and after West Knitting closed she worked for a number of years with CAP program at Anson County Hospital. Carolyn was a long-time member of Sandy Plains United Methodist Church in Morven and she served the church as pianist for many years. Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Larry F. Taylor; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Stephanie Williams of Wadesboro; her granddaughter, Madilyn Williams of Wadesboro; her mother, Ruby Trexler of Wadesboro; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorri and Ken Lemmonds of Wadesboro and Nancy and Mike Taylor of Indian Land, SC; and her uncle, T.C. Trexler of Wadesboro. Also surviving are her step-daughters, Cindy Huneycutt of Unionville, and Michelle Simmons and Brandis and Brandon Chewning both of Wadesboro; grandchildren, Presleigh Huneycutt, Dustin Simmons, Destini Simmons, Brooklin Chewning and Bristol Chewning and their families. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Julius and Mary Baker Steele and Erie and Fannie Short Trexler and a special aunt, Daisy Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
