LILESVILLE - Mr. Carter Lester Newton, 63, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Autumn Care of Marshville. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, June 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Donnie Helms, Rev. Doug Moore and Rev. Floyd Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Peachland Cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home and other times at the Rowell home in Peachland. Carter was born September 7, 1948 in Anson County, NC a son of the late William Tommie and Eula Garris Newton. He was retired from W.R. Bonsal and was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his daughters, Lori (Kenny) Rowell of Peachland and Ashley (Justin) Huntley of Polkton; his former wife, Marlene Newton of Peachland; his grandchildren, Kacey and Jackson Huntley of Polkton; and his brothers, Haywood (Sue) Newton of Wadesboro and Rev. Floyd (Faye) Newton of Lilesville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Ray Newton and his sister, Edna Oliver. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all the friends, neighbors, church families, doctors, nurses and staff at Autumn Care who prayed diligently and have provided unfailing support to the family in so many different ways.
