Charles Everett Harward, Jr.

 

            WADESBORO – On Thursday, October 20, 2022, Mr. Charles Everett Harward, Jr., 71, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his bedside.

 

            Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, October 24, 2022 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

 

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Monday and other times at the home.

 

            Charles was born July 9, 1951 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Charles Everett Harward and the late Mary Lou Treadaway Harward. He was a graduate of Bowman High School and was a veteran of the Untied States Army, being drafted to serve during the Vietnam War. He received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from South Piedmont Community College.

 

            He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, having worked at Brown Creek Correctional Center in Polkton.

 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Jacobs Harward; his children, Philip Harward of Wadesbro and Christy Brown (Dac) of Stephens City, VA; his grandchildren, Cassidy Walsh (Austin) of Polkton, Hannah Harward and Chase Harward both of Wadesboro, Savannah Brown, Tucker Brown and Sadie Brown all of Stephens City, VA; his great-grandchildren, McKinlee, Kasen and Blakelee; his sisters, Louise Thomas (Edwin) of Peachland and Frances Radford (Dennis) of Gastonia; his nieces and  nephew, Jenny Thomas of Greensboro, Megan Thomas of Peachland, Kelley Radford of Dallas and Neil Radford (Heather)  of Gastonia.

 

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. “Chuckie” Harward, III and his granddaughter, Emily Harward.

 

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leavitt Funeral Home, P.O. Box 274, Wadesboro, NC 28170 to assist with funeral expenses.
