WADESBORO - On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Mr. Clyde Leonard Hildreth, 85, passed away peacefully at his home.
Clyde was born in Lancaster, S.C., on April 26, 1940, but was raised in Anson County . He was 1 of 11 children.
Clyde joined the Marine Corp. on November 10, 1958. He married his wife, Ruth on November 17, 1962. They were stationed together in Albany, GA for 1 year, spent 2 1/2 years in Little Creek, VA where he received a monitorial promotion to Staff Sergeant. They spent 14 years stationed at Camp Lejeune, there they were blessed with a daughter. Clyde accomplished 30 years with the Marine Corp which included 3 tours in Japan and 10 years in the reserves. Clyde retired from active duty as a Master Sergeant in June 1978. Upon retirement from the Marines, Clyde went to Anson Technical College for heating and air conditioning and his name was placed in the "Who's Who of America" for achieving a 3.96 GPA.. During and after his collegiate experience worked at Wingate College for 3 years. His last place of employment was Rebel Lumber Company for 15 years as the pallet shop supervisor and lead fort lift supervisor. Clyde enjoyed fishing Lanes Creek and gardening for this recreation.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Sellers Hildreth; his daughter, Fran Simpson; sister and brother, Dot Carpenter and JT Hildreth; 3 grandchildren and 1 spouse; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 spouses; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In Addition to his parents, Clyde was proceeded in death by 8 siblings, 1 child and 1 grandchild.
Celebration of life services will be held 2:00PM, October 18, 2025 at Brown Creek Baptist Church in Wadesboro. Family will receive friends before the service at 1:00PM at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The Hildreth family thanks everyone that has been part of the wonderful man we know as " Pa Pa" and love him like we did.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donation's be made to Brown Creek Baptist Church.
