Diane Edwards Griffin

Polkton - Mrs. Diane Edwards Griffin, 75, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte, NC. There will be a service to celebrate her life at 11:00am Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Oakdale Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Diane was born January 5, 1944 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late William Coleman Edwards and the late Lillie Maggie Nance Edwards. She was a graduate of Forest Hills High School and Anson Community College. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, retiring from Anson Community Hospital in Wadesboro. She was a faithful member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Kathy Flake of Polkton, Jerry Griffin (Julie) of Talladega, AL and Cindy Ross (Robbie) of Polkton; her grandchildren, Kenneth Atkinson, Kristen Huntley (Brown), Karlyn Beachum, Tori Ross (Jay), Josiah Griffin, Matthew Ross (Brandi), Tonya Magliocca (Nick) and Tiffany Ross ( fiance' B.J. Dixon); 9 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way and her sisters, Lucy Shehan of Ft. Mill, SC and Gladys Godwin of New Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Griffin and her sister and brother, Nancy Airington and Joe Dean Edwards. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 3304 NC 218, Polkton, NC 28135. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
