WADESBORO - On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Mrs. Donna Henry Griggs, 79, passed away peacefully at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Helms and Rev. John Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday and at other times at their home.
Donna was born January 24, 1946, in Anson County, a daughter of the late George Edward Henry and Eugenia ‘Jean’ Kanipe Henry. She graduated from Wadesboro High School class of 1964 and the University of Florida, where she received a degree in dietetics.
She had a vast array of career interests, working as a secretary for Coach Ed Emory, a secretary at Anson County Hospital, she, along with her husband, owned and operated Griggs Construction, Quality Home and Décor, a dietician at the Brian Center in Monroe, and lastly retiring from Wadesboro Health and Rehab as a dietician.
Donna was known in the community for being an excellent cook and was always thinking of others and sharing from her kitchen to show her care during times of sadness and joy. She had an infectious smile and a heart of love for all people. She always remembered her family and friends on their birthdays with cards.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Larry William Griggs of the home; her children, Beth Richeson (Donnie) of Lilesville, Billy Griggs (Michelle) of Charlotte, Gregg Griggs (Leslie) of Wadesboro; her grandsons, Kaleb Richeson of Concord and Will Griggs of Charlotte; her brother, Gary Henry of Ellerbe; her sister-a-law, Sherrill Henry of Morven; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family David and Ann Poplin and their girls Katie and Bethany.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Joy Henry, Julie Henry Morris, and Eddie Henry, and her sister-in-law, Penny Henry.
Donna’s family is most grateful to the staff of Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham for all they did for her while she was in their care.
