PEACHLAND – On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Mrs. Doris Carpenter Hill, 80, passed away peacefully at Atrium Union in Monroe with her family gathered at her bedside.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Deep Springs Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, Friday, September 12, 2025, at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Doris was born December 5, 1944, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Carpenter and the late Esther Baucom Hill. She was a graduate of Bowman High School
While in early years she worked in banking and at Wade Manufacturing, her main and productive career was that of wife, mother, grandmother, pastor’s wife, and friend. She took the role God placed on her life seriously and was indeed devoted to her family.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband 55 years, Rev. Steve Hill; her children, Lori Hill-Stikeleather and husband, Brian of Mooresville, Stephen Hill and wife, Stephanie of Peachland, Justin Chris and wife, Anita of Marshville, Diedre Suzanne Hill of Peachland and Daniel Hill and wife, Alisha of Peachland; her grandchildren, Gavin Dipple, Ashton Stikeleather, Addison Stikeleather, Claudia Hill, Andrew Hill, and Magnolia Hill; her brother, Gary Carpenter of Peachland and her nieces and nephews and their families.
Doris enjoyed gardening at home, both flowers and vegetables, watching hummingbirds and cardinals and keeping their feeders full and ready for them. She dearly loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Trips to the mountains were among her favorite past times, too.
She enjoyed playing the piano and loved to sing. She had been a part of a gospel singing group which included her husband. Her love for the Lord and his message was also evident in her support for her husband’s ministry.
Flowers are appreciated but for those who desire, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina, Attn: Donations, 5121 Kingdom Way, 100, Raleigh, NC 27607.
