Dorothy Martin Beachum

Mrs. Dorothy Martin Beachum, 88, of Polkton, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Tony High officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro and other times at the Gulledge home in Lilesville. Dorothy was born May 1, 1923, in Anson County, N.C., a daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Martin and Mary Anna Hildreth Martin. She was retired from Polkton Manufacturing and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, David Beachum, Jr. and wife Libby of Polkton, Patsy Beachum Gulledge and husband Vance of Lilesville and Darrell Beachum and wife Brenda of Locust; her brother, Jeff Martin, Jr. and wife Clarice of Ansonville; and her 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Her husband, Crowell David Beachum, and her daughter, Mary Alice Hill, preceded her in death.
