Ed Tucker

POLKTON Mr. Gene Edward "Ed" Tucker, 90, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Polkton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Ed was born April 28, 1927 in Anson County, NC one of seven children born to the late William Brady Tucker and the late Odie Wright Tucker. He was a graduate of Polkton High School and a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He worked for a number of years at Hornwood and as the Electrical Inspector for Anson County. He later became the Building Inspector for Anson County and later retired as the Maintenance Director for Anson County Schools. Surviving are his children, Cherry (Freddie) Kirk of Monroe, Linda (Stanley) Brock, Gene (Susan) Tucker and Christa (Monte) Auzenne all of Polkton; his grandchildren, Bryan (Kristen) Kirk of Carlisle, PA, Michelle Sullivan of Monroe, Michael (Ashley) Kirk of Matthews, Laura (Jeremy) Brooks of Marshville, Melinda (Paolo) Narciso of Charlotte, Stan (Michelle) Brock of Polkton, Carri (Ryan) Decker of Marhsville, Will (Lisa) Tucker of Marshville, Brooke (Brad) James of Cherry Grove, SC and McKayla Elizabeth Tucker of Polkton; 17 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way and his nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lib Thomas Tucker, great-grandson, Tucker Dewitt Brock and sisters and brothers, Christine Lane, Louise Anderson, Killian Tucker, Jim Tucker, Charles Tucker and Faire Belle Gaddy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Polkton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 25, Polkton, NC 28135 or to Griffin Cemetery, % Oakdale Baptist Church, 3304 NC 218, Polkton, NC 28135.
