WADESBORO - On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Miss Edna Ruth Rogers, 89, loving and devoted sister and aunt, passed away with her family gathered around her bedside at Atrium Health Anson in Wadesboro.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at North Wadesboro Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Edna Ruth was born December 12, 1936, in the Brown Creek Community of Wadesboro and was a daughter of the late Lloyd Lafayette Rogers and the late Alice Mae Russell Rogers. She was a 1954 graduate of Wadesboro High School.

Following high school graduation, she went to work with Barrington Hill Attorney at Law in Wadesboro and she worked with him until his passing. She later worked with Dr. Richard Constantion at Anson Optometric transitioning after his retirement to working with Dr. Michelle Keel. Edna Ruth retired from Anson Optometric at age 72.

She was a longtime and devoted member of North Wadesboro Baptist Church.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her brother and sisters, Bob Rogers (Betty) of Stanfield, Margaret Rogers and Mary Alice Rogers both of Wadesboro; her nieces and nephews, Carol High, Robbie Rogers (Jodie) and Jeff Rogers (Megan) all of Wadesboro, Billie Jo Rogers of Yadkinville, and Eddie Rogers of Myrtle Beach, SC; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Megan Kirby (James of Columbia, MD, Scarlett Rogers of Hendersonville, Kassidy High, Makayla High, Beverly Eddins and Michael Rogers all of Wadesboro and her great-great-niece, Maelie Kirby of Columbia, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister, William Rogers and wife, Mary Jo, and Louise Rogers and her sister-in-law, Edna Ratliff Rogers.

Edna Ruth will be remembered as the matriarch of her family. Following the passing of their mother, Edna stepped into the role of a mother figure to her brothers and sisters, which led her into a lifelong spirit of caring for others and being a nurturer in her family. She helped care for and rear her nieces and nephews, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephew. Her love and care has been extended through the family for generations.

She was considered one of the best cooks around, not only for her family but at North Wadesboro Church. Everyone wanted to know what dishes Edna Ruth prepared.

Edna Ruth enjoyed watching competitive sports, racing, basketball, and football and always enjoyed a good banter session with her family about their rivals. She was an avid Duke fan.
