POLKTON – On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Mr. Edward Darrel Taylor, 82, of the Burnsville Community, passed away peacefully at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. He is now at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylor Family Cemetery in the Burnsville Community.
The family will greet friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Ed was born March 6, 1943, in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Thomas Albert Taylor and the late Eula Ethel Wright Taylor. He attended Burnsville High School completing high school requirements at Wingate College.
Ed was a dedicated provider for his family, working many years of his life, most recently with Anson County Water Department before his retirement. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Oakboro where he has served as a Sunday school teacher. He loved reading and studying the Bible and praising the Lord through singing. He never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with others. He would share the gospel in hopes others would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and road trips to the mountains of NC, VA and TN, especially in the fall to enjoy the beauty of the changing colors of nature. He and his late wife, Lynne, made many precious memories taking family members and friends on these trips, usually bringing home loads of fresh fruits and produce to make jams, jellies, preserves and other canned goods to share with others. Ed also enjoyed having fish-fries, cooking the fish he caught and inviting friends and family to enjoy them with him and Lynne.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Chris Dunn of the Burnsville Community, Susan and Dan Tucker of Albemarle, Mavis and Larry Moree of the Burnsville Community; his grandchildren, Matt Dunn (Jillian) of Wadesboro, Trent Dunn (Marlena) of the Burnsville Community, Kevin Tucker and Rebecca Tucker both of Albemarle, and Gracie, Abbey, and Jacob Moree all of the Burnsville Community; his great-grandchildren, Beckham, Luna, Penelope, and Jagger Dunn; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Lois Hildreth (Richard) of Polkton, Betty Little (Steve) of Wingate and Rachel Williams of Rockingham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Lynne Williams Taylor and by his brother, Thomas Albert Taylor, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Oakboro, NC or the Gideon’s International.
