Ernie Bruce Thomas

Polkton- Mr. Ernie Bruce Thomas, 71, died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Graveside services will be 1:00PM Friday at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ansonville with Rev. Rodney Clements officiating. Family will greet friends following the service. Mr. Thomas was born in Stanly County on July 30, 1948 a son of Dorothy Gainey Thomas Locklear and the late Ernest Braswell Thomas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Brown Creek Correctional Facility with the HVAC Maintenance Department. Surviving are his daughter, Tracy Lynn (Jeff) Caldwell of Charlotte; grandson, Alex Caldwell of Charlotte; his mother, Dorothy Gainey Thomas Locklear of Norwood; his siblings, Isaac “Ike” Thomas of Polkton, Roy Thomas of Norwood, Phyllis (Wade) Broadaway of Midland, Dorothy “Punk” Davis of Norwood, Paula Taylor of Norwood and Sue (Steve) Totten of Norwood; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Charles Peter Thomas and Frances Thomas Swearingen. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
