Frances Robinson Floyd

WADESBORO - On Sunday, August 27, 2023, Mrs. Frances Robinson Floyd, 93, passed away peacefully at Wadesboro Health and Rehab.  

Frances was born on March 26, 1930, in Mt. Gilead, NC. She later moved to Anson County with her husband and worked for many years as a seamstress at Smith’s Cleaners. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wadesboro and in her later years when her health started declining, she attended Deep Creek Baptist with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Floyd; son-in laws William “Billy” Luther and Daniel “Dan” McLaurin. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kay McLaurin of Wadesboro, NC, and Janet Luther (Reggie Cassidy) of Chesterfield, SC; five grandchildren, Darrell McLaurin, Brian McLaurin (wife Katie)  Dana Thomas (husband Bryan), Mandy Luther and Whitney Luther;  eight great grandchildren, Heather Rossidis, Holly Haehle (husband Kevin), Jadyn Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Preston Thomas, Emma Lee, Evan McLaurin and Cheyenne Luther; and six great, great grandchildren, Noah, Xander, Mason, Olive, Bella and Hazel. She also had a special relationship with Stella Floyd of Ellerbe, NC, and Eleanor Williams of Morven, NC, both of whom she called her sisters.

Frances dedicated her life to raising her family in the way of the Lord. Her faith in Christ was so much more than just a daily walk and her faith was contagious. Mrs. Floyd will also be remembered for her love to sing Christian music. In the past, she went around to many churches singing alto with her family group “The Floyd Family”. Frances also loved to cook and bake for others, especially her family.

The family is very appreciative of the staff at Wadesboro Health and Rehab along with the loving care “Grandma” received.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home.
