WADESBORO - Mr. Gary Stephen Cowick, 50, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Riedel officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the funeral home and other times at the home. Steve was born November 1, 1963 in Union County, NC a son of Shelby Gooden Cowick Whitaker and the late Charles Edward Cowick. He was a steel erector with McGee Corporation. Surviving are his wife, Carlyn Dunn Cowick of the home; his step-sons, Jamie and Devin Ratliff both of Wadesboro; his grandson Elijah; his mother, Shelby Whitaker of Chesterfield, SC; his brother and sister, Tim (Cathy) Cowick of Mooresville and Dena (Jimmy) Grice of Morven; his sisters-in-law, Cathy Cowick, Teah (John) Kelly and Dana (Tuna) Cummings all of Wadesboro; his brother-in-law, Chris (Denise) Dunn of Polkton; his nieces and nephews and their families and a special great niece, Daylin. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Cowick. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
