Today we honor a life that was deeply loved and will forever be missed. With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Girtha Burnette Little, who peacefully entered eternal rest on May 9, 2026.
Girtha was born on July 30, 1942, in Anson County, North Carolina, to Frank Jr. Little and Annie Lee Tyson. She was lovingly raised by her great-grandparents, William and Lula Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jr. Little and Annie Lee Tyson; her brothers, Willie Lawrence Christian and Kenneth Christian; and her sister, Cheryl Ingram
Girtha was more than a sister and friend — she was a source of love, strength, comfort, and light to everyone blessed enough to know her. Her smile could brighten the darkest days, and her love left a mark that time can never erase.
The memories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she gave so freely will remain in our hearts forever. Though our hearts ache in this earthly goodbye, we find peace in knowing that God welcomed her home and that one day we will meet again.
Girtha leaves to cherish her loving memories: her sisters, Carolyn Taylor and Valeria Hammond; sister-in-law, Patricia Christian; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere expression of gratitude to Sherrie Bowers for the love, care, compassion, and devotion she bestowed upon Girtha as her caregiver.
She leaves behind a family and countless loved ones who will cherish every memory and carry her spirit with them always.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2026 at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in the Burnsville Community.
There will be a public viewing from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Leavitt Funeral Home.
