H. Mark White

            POLKTON – On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Mr. H. Mark White, 78, completed his earthly journey and went home to be with his Lord. 

            Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. John Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery in Polkton with military honors. Those attending are invited to a reception at the Polkton Depot following the service at the cemetery 

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. 

            Mark was born May 21, 1945, in Moore County, NC and was a son of the late George Hennis White and the late Johnsie H. Caulder. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and attended Anson Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army  

            He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Polkton Baptist Church for 59 years. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, RA leader and the Baptist men. He and his wife, Janet have volunteered for evangelistic crusades in Anson County, and he has also volunteered with Billy Graham Crusades. 

            Mark was a former member of Polkton Town Council, having served for more than 30 years and had served on the zoning and planning board for Polkton. He has also been a volunteer for the Anson Crisis Ministry and Anson County Arts Council. He has formerly served on the zoning and planning board for Anson County. He had also been a Cub Scout leader in Anson County. 

            He enjoyed going to auctions, always on a mission for old bottles and Anson County memorabilia. He and his friends shared an extensive bottle collection enthusiasm and often took advantage of digging where old buildings had been torn down in hopes of finding treasured artifacts. 

            He has also spent time working with race teams such as Holman and Moody Racing and also assisted with repairs on Dale Earnhardt’s race car. He enjoyed those times so much. 

            Mark worked for 31 years with Anson County Schools in the maintenance department and prior to that he had worked with Crawford Motor Company and Gay Chevrolet. 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Janet Hutchinson White; his brothers, George White (Dana) and Eddie Caulder (Terry) and his sister-in-law, Nola Caulder all of Cheraw, SC; his extended family, Marian Dennis of Wadesboro and her family, McKay Baber and James Barber and many other friends and adopted family members. 

            Mark’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Anson County EMS and Polkton Fire Department for all the times they have come to their aid and for all the love and kindness that has been shown to them during his years of declining health. 

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anson Crisis Ministry to assist with homelessness in Anson County, P.O. Box 797, Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to Anson County Arts Council, Ansonia Theatre, P.O. Box 332, Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to Friends of the Anson County Animal Shelter, 7257 HWY 74, Polkton, NC 28135, or to the church of the donor’s choice.
