Herbert Mason Horne

POLKTON - On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Mr. Herbert Mason Horne, 82, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health CMC Main in Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tony High officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mason was born December 2, 1940, in Anson County, NC, and was the son of the late James Oscar Horne and the late Gertrude Eva Smith Horne. He worked with Quality Piping in Lancaster, SC for 30 years and following retirement worked as a security guard with API in Wadesboro.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge, #64, and Scottish Rite.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Todd Horne (Tammy Raffaldt) and Dale Horne (Tammy) both of Polkton; his grandchildren, Tiffany Mowry (David) of Polkton, Chris Horne (D'Anya) of Peachland, Brandon Horne (Kelsey) of Monroe, Martin Seppelt (Angel) and Zachary Seppelt both of Pageland, SC, Madison Seppelt, Nicole Horne and Jesse all of Polkton; 4 great-grandchildren; his brothers, James "Ed" Horne (Rhonda) of Shawnee, OK and Larry Horne of Polkton and his sister-in-law, Janet York of Pineville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Bowers Horne, and his sisters and brothers, Lila Bowers, Rebecca "Bet" Stilwell, Carl "Pete" Horne, and infant Lewis Dale Horne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, c/o, Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #64, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
