James Robert Harris, Jr.

             GAFFNEY, SC – On Saturday, December 30, 2023, Mr. James Robert “Jamie” Harris, Jr., 51, passed away peacefully at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

 

            Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro. Interment will follow with military honors in Morven Cemetery.

 

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

 

            Jamie was born August 28, 1972, in Anson County, NC and was the son of Jean Carpenter Harris and the late James Robert Harris. He was a graduate of Forest Hills High School and a veteran of the United States Army and the Army National Guard with 10 years of service. He had a great love and respect for his brothers and sisters in the armed forces.

 

            He was employed with Keystone Construction in Gaffney, SC as foreman. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and VFW Post #4203 in Rockingham.

 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 10 years, Tammy Evans Harris; his children, James “Jamie” Harris, III (Serena) of Marshville, Brooke Steagall (Michael) of Gaffney, SC, Elizabeth Coyle of Union, SC, Justin Evans and Cinamon Coyle both of Gaffney, SC and Aireal Miller (Leon) of Charlotte; 16 grandchildren; his mother, Jean Harris of Conway; his sister, Crystal Martin (Brian) of Conway and his extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

            He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was proud of his family roots in Anson County.

 

            In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Harris, his grandparents, Walter Jay and Mary Deese Harris and Lester and Lula Harrington Carpenter and his first cousin, Jeff Harris, who passed away on the same day.

 

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or to the local veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
