Albemarle - Mr. James William 'Jimmy' Smith, 69, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 in the Stanly Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Leavitt Funeral Home on Tuesday. Jimmy was born in Anson County on April 7, 1943, a son of the late Julia Mae Carpenter. He was a retired dairy farm worker. Survivors include his special children, Daniel Wilson, Mark Ross Smith and David Smith; brothers and sisters, Frances Tarlton, Larry Carpenter, Danny Carpenter, Tommy Carpenter, Brenda Turner, Bonita Weaver, Greg Smith, Mark Smith and Sue Wilson; a brother-in-law William Mauldin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Mauldin, a brother, Ricky Smith; and a very special aunt and uncle, Walter and Pauline Smith.
