James Thomas "Jim" Smith

             CHESTEFIELD, SC – On Thursday, March 24, 2022, Mr. James Thomas “Jim” Smith, 49, passed away peacefully at McLeod Health in Cheraw, SC following a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

 

            There will be a memorial service at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

 

            Jim was born June 1, 1972, in Cleveland, OH and was a son of the late Grady L. Smith and the late Ellen Louise Jude Smith. He was a graduate of Bath High School in Lima, OH and worked with Clayton Homes in Laurinburg.

 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Dana; his brother, Adam Smith of Greensboro; his half-sisters, April Moore and Crystal Adkins both of Kentucky; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janet and Jerry McQuage of Morven and a wonderful circle of friends.

 

            Jim loved to discover new places and things, especially anything near the ocean. He loved all music and played guitar. He was an avid car enthusiast and loved all things about them. He loved meeting new people and getting to know them He never met a stranger in his life. He enjoyed going to auctions. Loved to learn the history of anything and everything. In the eyes of his wife, he was the smartest man around.

 

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church.

 

            The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
