Charlotte - Mrs. Jean Hightower Dobbins, 86, died peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Carillon Assisted Living Facility in Harrisburg.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro, with Rev. John Harrill officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM.
Jean was born in Anson County on November 4, 1928, one of five children born to Mary Moore and Clyde Ellis Hightower. She married the love of her life Charles E. Dobbins in 1947 and together they had 58 wonderful years before 'Charlie' passed away in 2005. She and Charlie were both longtime members at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Jean was a retired legal secretary and former NC Legal Secretary of the Year.
Survivors include her daughter, Debby Dobbins of Charlotte; her son, Charles E. 'Chuck' Dobbins Jr. (Nancy) of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Tracy Dobbins Barcott (Rye), Lindy Denise Dobbins (Joe Brown), Chris Rhodes (Jill) and Lindsey Hoeferlin (Karl); and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Hightower, Ed Hightower, Lucille Morris and Kathryn Evans.
