Jerry Bernard Downer

Marion, North Carolina – Mr. Jerry Bernard Downer, 57, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at his home.

There will be a graveside service at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Savannah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lilesville with Rev. Steve Goodwin officiating.

Jerry was born August 19, 1968 in Mecklenburg County, NC a son of the late Robert Franklin Downer, Sr. and Frances Carolyn McRae Downer. He was a graduate of Anson High School and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. His time in the Army reflected the strength, discipline, and loyalty that defined his character throughout his life. Following his retirement from the United States Army, Jerry lived a simple life and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his siblings, Robert “Bob” Franklin Downer, Jr. of Lilesville and Patricia Downer Seago (John) of Wadesboro; his niece and nephew, Mary-Kathryn Downer and Jacob Phillip Downer (Lucia).

Memorials may be made to a Christian Organization of their choice.
