             WADESBORO – On Saturday, February 19, 2022, Mrs. Joannie D. Pegram, 64, went to be with her Lord, with her family at her side while being cared for at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC.

            Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, February 25, 2022, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

            The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.

            Joannie was born on December 21, 1957, in Anson County, NC. She was a 1977 graduate of Bowman High School and worked as a CNA MedTech at Heritage Hills Nursing Home for many years.

            She was a dedicated member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mamie Webb Prayer Circle, WMU and the Fellowship Melissa Ratliff Sunday School Class. She also volunteered with Gulledge Volunteer Fire Department.

            Joannie loved to stay on the go. She enjoyed travelling and looked for any excuse to go on a road trip. Trips to the mountains or the beach were among her favorite places to visit.  She also enjoyed planting and growing flowers, watching wrestling and the Andy Griffith show, decorating for all holidays, especially, Christmas and any time to get together with her family and friends.

            Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years, Frankie Pegram; her son, Franklin Pegram of Morven; her parents, Joyce and Van Garris of Morven; her brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Phyllis Dawkins of Wadesboro; her beloved dog, BJ and beloved cat, Willie; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Gayle Pegram of Wadesboro and Sandra Mabry of Peachland; her nephew and nieces, Mike Pegram (Rachel) of Midland, Katie Green (Brad)  and Candice Roberts (Travis) both of Ansonville and their families; her first cousins, Jean Tyson (Dennis) of Traveler’s Rest, SC and Helen Maree of Wadesboro, with whom she shared a very special relationship and four half-sisters.

            She was preceded in death by her grandparents, D.F. and Lonie High, Coleman and Sarah Garris, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Alberta Pegram and her brother-in-law, Rod Mabry.

            Joannie’s family is most grateful for the outpouring of love shown to her during her courageous battle with cancer.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Wanda Steele, Mayesville Rd., Morven, NC 28119 or to McWhorter Hospice House, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
