John Duncan Currie

MT. GILEAD  - On Sunday, August 13, 2023, Mr. John Duncan Currie, 79, passed away peacefully at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in Hebron Cemetery in Mt. Gilead, NC.

John Duncan was born February 1, 1944 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late John Nelson Currie and the late Daisy Byrd Jarrell Currie. He was a graduate of West Montgomery High School and Wingate College.

He had worked for a brief period of time with W.R. Bonsal in Lilesville and later worked with Southern Products and Silica in Hoffman for more than 40 years.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. He also enjoyed having a garden and sharing vegetables with his friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Nelson "Bobby" Currie. Surviving are his beloved dog, Check, his faithful companion, his cousins and their families and dear family friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
