Johnny Rubin Carpenter

POLKTON - On Monday, August 7, 2023, Mr. Johnny Rubin Carpenter, 75, passed away peacefully at Wadesboro Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.

There will be a memorial service at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff McKnight officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Johnny was born July 24, 1948, in Anson County, NC, and was a son of the late Charlie Rubin Carpenter and the late Mary Eleanor Funderburke Carpenter. He was a 1967 graduate of  Anson High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.

He owned and operated Carpenter Farm for many years and later retired as a correctional officer at Brown Creek Correctional Institute in Polkton.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Glenn Carpenter (Katie) of Polkton; his grandchildren, Waylon Carpenter, and Nevaeh Gray; his sisters, Margaret Duvall of Cheraw, SC, Nancy Usrey (Mike) of Rockingham and Tammy Liles of Polkton and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jenkins.
