Joseph A. Mr. Winfree

Wadesboro - Mr. Joseph 'Joe' Alexander Winfree, 86, died peacefully Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home. A service to celebrate his life will be 3:00PM Friday in Savannah United Methodist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. The family will greet friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Joe was born in Anson County on April 16, 1927, a son of the late Walter Booker and Eunice Covington Winfree. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps having served in North Africa and Italy during WWII. Joe was a retired dairy farmer and loving father. He was married to Ruby Downer who preceded him in death on January 31, 2011. Survivors include four sons, Joe A. Winfree, Jr. of Spencer, OK, Charles David Winfree of Wadesboro, Paul Allen Winfree and Jeffrey Steven Winfree of the home; a daughter, Barbara W. Webb (Billy) of Wadesboro; one grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by a brother, W.B. Winfree Jr.; and two sisters, Alice Lee Hamrick and Mildred Roberts.
