Lanneau Lyde Smith

Lyde was born in Marion, South Carolina to the late Ada MaCaskill Smith and Ernest Smith.  He graduated from Rockingham High School, attended Wingate College and currently lived In Pinehurst. NC .   He also served in the US Air Force for 4 years where he was an Aircraft Electrician and given the nickname "Smitty".  His entire career was with Eastern Airlines, the majority spent in their computer center in Miami, Florida.  After their retirement they moved to Pinehurst, NC to be close to his brother-in-law,  Hampton Williams.  Lyde loved golf and tennis and was very good at both of them.

He is survived by his wife Pauline (Polly) Williams, brother-in-law Dr. Richard Williams and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Smith Childress and brother, Ernest Ray Smith.
