Mrs. LaQuitta LaShonda Medley Tanner lovingly known as “Shon” was born on July 22, 1977. She peacefully departed her life on Monday, July 11, 2022, at CMC-Main.

LaQuitta Tanner graduated from Anson County Schools in 1995. She attended Campbell University and Bennett College.

LaQuitta confessed Christ at an early age and attended Rocky Mt. AME Zion Church, in Ansonville, NC.

LaQuitta was a Mental Health Psychiatrist, with a doctoral degree in Psychology. She was an advocate of children and adults, providing services that would assist both in achieving the highest quality of life possible for those living with adverse medical disadvantages.

LaQuitta had passion for entrepreneurship, catering, decorating, interior design, and fashion. She had a heart for others, and it illustrated through her philanthropy.

LaQuitta and her husband LaGerald, who was the love of her life, shared a special love for traveling domestically and internationally, celebrating with friends and family, and exploring new and extraordinary foods, often calling themselves “foodies.”

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lucy Little, and paternal grandmother, Naomi Steele.

She leaves to cherish her memories, parents Mae Medley of Ansonville, NC and Dennis Medley (Vicky), of Harrisburg, NC, her loving husband LaGerald Tanner of Concord, NC, Godparents James and Ida Steele of Ansonville, NC and Godbrother, Anthony Steele (Denise), of Clemmons, NC. Her mother-in-law, Shelby Sturdivant, and brother-in-law, DeQuon Sturdivant, of Wadesboro, NC.

LaQuitta had a special relationship with each one of her aunts and uncles, left to cherish her memories are Rosa Legrand, Emma Little, Wilbur Ingram Jr., Betty Ingram all of Ansonville, NC. Laura Ingram of Wadesboro, NC, Juanita Davis (Melvin) of Lilesville, NC and Patricia Little of Marshville, NC., Tracy Benson of Charlotte, NC, Doris Spencer (Don) of Badin, NC and Jeff Steele of Monroe, NC.

“Shon” had an affectionate love in her heart for her Special Sisters and Brothers: Erika Jones (Curtis), Praise Medley, Jeremiah Medley, Denise Cannon (Gerald), Siobhan Allen (Bo), Tonya Ingram, Natasha Hunter, Katrina Ingram, Kadejah Ingram, Michelle Broadway, Brianna Little, Kelicia Weber (James), Ashley Ingram, Andrew Davis (Sabrina), Marcus Ingram, Christopher Little, Kelvin Davis (Chenel),

In addition, LaQuitta leaves to cherish her memories a host of special nieces and nephews, family, four special friends, Jacqueline Kirby, Kristen Mims, Sovenia Bowman, Rinnelle Bennett and many other friends and loved ones. 

 

 

Funeral services will e 3:00 PM Saturday, July  16, 2022 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ansonville.

There will be no public viewing.

The family is gathering at the home of her mother in Ansonville.
