LILESVILLE - On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, Mrs. Lillie Burr Morton, 73, slipped away peacefully with her family by her side to be with her Lord and Savior while being cared for at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Jackson and Rev. Tony Hancox officiating. Interment will follow in Fall Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lilesville.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service and other times at her home.
Lillie was born September 7, 1949, in Anson County, NC, and was a daughter of the late David Henry Burr and the late Mary Ruth Roberts Burr. She attended Wadesboro High School and attended beauty school in Hamlet. She owned and operated Guys and Dolls Hair Styles for 42 years (1978-2021).
As a young lady, she attended Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with her mother and family and later became a member of Fall Branch Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Sharon Morton and Randy Morton of Lilesville and Sandra Morton of Norwood; her companion of 30 years, Roy Stiller of Lilesville; her grandchildren, Dustin (Nikki) Morton of Lilesville, Kolby Morton, Luke Morton and Seth Morton all of Norwood and Leslie (Brandon) Wright of Lilesville; her great-grandchildren, Addie Rose Morton, Skylar Boone, Abbey Wright, Maddie Wright and Eason Griffin all of Lilesville; her sisters and brothers, M.A. "Nick" Burr (Evelyn) of Easley, SC, Frank Burr (Carolyn) of Burlington, David J. "Tad" Burr and Martha Morton both of Lilesville and Mary Evans of Wadesboro and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Morton; her brothers and sisters, James "L.W." Burr, John Henry Burr, Joe Thomas Burr, Sarah "Mutt" Tarlton, and Lois Jean Gathings and a special niece who was like a sister to her, Debra Burr Lampley.
Lillie's family is very grateful for all the acts of love and kindness shown not only to her but their family during her courageous journey with cancer. They would also like the express their heartfelt gratitude to Anson Community Hospice a Division of Richmond County Hospice and Hospice Haven for the care they gave her during her final days.
Gifts of flowers will be appreciated, however, the family suggests memorials be made to Anson Community Hospice, c/o Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N US 1 HWY, Rockingham, NC 28170.
