Margaret Jane "Janie" Caudle went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2026.
Janie Caudle, 86, was born on February 9, 1940, in Sarasota, Florida, to Edna Baucom Burris and Clarence Burris. Before she was a year old, she and her mother returned to Anson County, North Carolina, where they lived across the road from her grandparents in Burnsville. Living so close to them, Janie spent much of her childhood at the home of her beloved grandparents, Willie and Glennie Baucom. She began attending church with “Pa Willie,” as her grandfather was affectionately known, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age. Her unwavering faith in Christ remained the foundation of her life and carried her with joy through every season.
At just 15 months old, Janie suffered a devastating accident when she was kicked in the head by a mule. Doctors did not expect her to survive the night, and she spent nine days in the hospital. Thanks to the quick thinking of her grandmother, who placed biscuit dough across her forehead to help stop the bleeding until medical care could be reached, her life was spared. It was not her time—God had other plans for her life.
On her 18th birthday, Janie married Don Caudle. Together they moved to Charlotte, where Janie became a hairdresser and Don worked as a plumber. In 1976, after building a home beside her mother and stepfather in Burnsville, they returned to Anson County to raise their family. Over the years, Janie worked as a seamstress and later as a substitute teacher for Union County Public Schools.
Janie was gifted in many ways. She gave wonderful haircuts, loved gardening, delighted in raising butterflies, and faithfully welcomed multiple families of bluebirds to the birdhouses around her home each year. She found joy in God’s creation and had a special love for animals, whether beloved pets or wildlife. Above all else, she loved Jesus, cherished her church, and devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family.
Her three grandsons were the pride and joy of her life. She prayed for them faithfully and loved finding reasons to call them—whether she needed help digging rocks out of the backyard, fixing the TV remote, or cleaning out the fish pond at her country home. Every request was simply another opportunity to spend time with the boys she loved so dearly.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Don Caudle.
She is survived by her children, Phil Caudle and Lesa Williams (Myron); her grandsons, Rich Belk (Shanda), Ty Belk, and Camden Williams; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, visitation will be at 3:00pm with Memorial Service following at 4:00pm at Lee Park Baptist Church chapel. A graveside service will be held at Rocky Mount Cemetery, 4167 Rocky Mount Church Road, Polkton, in Anson County immediately following the service.
