But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
New Dawn, New Day, It’s Done…
Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, she became a butterfly. It is a new dawn, a new day, for her work is done here on earth. Her memories will linger forever with all who were blessed to encounter such a candid and gentle soul with a heart of gold.
Marion “Lucille” was the fourth child born to the late Marshall, Jr. and Lucille McLendon, June 15, 1948. God gently whispered, “You have fought the good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith; henceforth there is a crown of righteousness laid up for you,” and peacefully called her home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Marin attended Gatewood Station AME Zion Church, where she gave her life to Christ at an early age. She received her formal education through Henry Grove, loyal and hardworking, she dedicated many years of service to Cuddy Farms and Cobb Vantress.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, Elsie Tillman, Lonnie McLendon, and Fannie Ruth Ingram: great-grandson, Malachi Hinson, and niece, Brenda Ingram.
To cherish her memories, she leaves her children, Jacquelyn (James) Roby, Denise Boggan, Roberta Streater, Robert (Shayran) Streater, and Lafondrae (Corey) Tillmon; her sister, Hattie McLendon Burris; her sister-in-love, Daisy McLendon; her brother-in-love, Jesse Ingram; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, friends and coworkers..
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gatewood Station AME Zion Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the funeral home.
The family is gathering at the home 116 First St., Lilesville, NC.
