Mark Edward Bennett

WADESBORO - On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Mr. Mark Edward Bennett, 64, beloved husband, father, son, friend, and blessed Child of God was welcomed into the glories of Heaven and reunited with his loving parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko and Rev. Maner Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2026, at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mark was born January 14, 1962, in Union County, NC and was the son of the late Carl Edward Bennett and the late Ivah Lee Broome Bennett. He was a 1980 graduate of Southview Academy in Wadesboro and a graduate of Wake Forest University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Following graduation from Wake Forest University, Mark was employed with Cherry Bekaert & Holland as a staff accountant in Charlotte. Not long after that he was asked to join B.C. Moore and Son’s corporate offices in Wadesboro. Alongside his wife he became a partner with J.B. Watson and Co. in Wadesboro. Mark left J.B. Watson & Co. to become the CFO of Jordan Lumber and Supply, which was his dream job if you asked him. After retiring from Jordan Lumber and Supply, he owned and operated MDME Consulting.

Mark learned at a very young age to love the Lord from his parents and those who influenced him as a young child at Union Grove Baptist Church in Marshville and later First Baptist Church in Wadesboro when his family moved from Marshville to Wadesboro. Over the years, Mark was ordained and served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and worked with youth.

He later became a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, home church of the Bennett family, where he served as a deacon, substitute Sunday school teacher and led the prayer ministry. He was actively involved with Anson County Baptist Men, serving as treasurer and assisting in building ramps in and around Anson County for those in need.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Deneal Hicks Bennett; his daughters, Maria Elizabeth Bennett and Emily Mikhaila Bennett both of Wadesboro; his aunts, Carolyn Gaddy of Oakboro, Bobbie Stegall (Ray) and Joanne Parker both of Marshville; his cousin, who was more like a sister, Elizabeth Gaddy Parker (Anthony) of Oakboro and their children, Nicholas Parker (Brooklyn) of Albemarle, and Matthew Parker and Madison Parker both of Oakboro; his sister-in-law, Lisa Hicks Kirkley (Everette) of Rockingham; niece, Natalie Kirkley Smith (Brandon) of Seven Lakes; and “adopted” daughter, Lindsay Lowery Biggers (Jamie) and their son, Sawyer of Wadesboro. Mark leaves behind loved ones and friends who considered him a man of great faith and one of God’s greatest masterpieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Neal and Peggy Blakely Hicks.

The family is most grateful to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis in Albemarle for all they have done for Mark and their family while they assisted them in managing his at-home dialysis care.

Throughout Mark’s life he held to the promises of God’s Word that God would never leave or forsake him. Mark believed the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:1-9 “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands…Now the One who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
