Marvin Joseph Hamer, Jr.

INDIAN TRAIL - Marvin J. Hamer Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 14, 2026, following an extended illness.

Marvin was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on December 28, 1942, to Louise Braswell and Marvin J. Hamer. His mother, Louise Braswell, was a native of Wadesboro, North Carolina, and in 1948, the family made Wadesboro their home. Marvin graduated from Wadesboro High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from North Carolina State University in 1965.

While attending college, Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Hardison, in 1962. Together, they embarked on a loving and fulfilling life, spending 64 years side by side and making their home in various towns throughout North Carolina.

Marvin enjoyed a rewarding career with Nationwide Insurance, from which he retired in 2008. Upon retirement, Marvin and Elizabeth relocated to Oak Island, North Carolina, where they embraced the coastal lifestyle and enjoyed many wonderful years together.

Marvin particularly cherished his days of golfing with his many friends and the countless hours spent boating. He also loved relaxing at their dock, taking in the beauty of the coast and watching the breathtaking sunsets.

Marvin was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Indian Trail, where his faith was an important part of his life.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Elizabeth Hardison Hamer; his two children, Deborah Anne Hamer and Marvin Joseph Hamer III; his grandchildren, Marvin Ray Jones, Dylan Hamer, and Melodie Hamer; and his great-granddaughter, Maggie Rae Jones.

He will be remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
