WADESBORO - Mary Louise Garris, affectionately known as "Lucy," of Wadesboro, North Carolina, passed away at the age of 51 at The living Center of Concord in Concord, North Carolina. Mary was born on April 29, 1974, in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Daisy Gaddy Garris and the late John Henry Garris Sr., who preceded her in death in 2021.
Mary was educated in the Anson County public school system and was a part of the graduating Class of 1992. Mary pursued her passion in the transportation industry, becoming the owner and operator of Mary Garris Trucking, a business she led with pride and dedication for over 25 years, only stepping back when her health declined.
She will be lovingly remembered by: her mother, Daisy Lee Gaddy Garris of Wadesboro, NC; two sisters, Turkisha Garris of Wadesboro, NC, and Cynthia Garris Horne of Unionville, NC; one brother, John Henry Garris Jr. of Wadesboro, NC; one brother-in-law, Scotty Horne of Unionville, NC; one sister-in-law Squarnicia Gainey-Garris of Wadesboro, NC; six nephews, Dylan Garris of Wadesboro, NC, Sam Smith of Wadesboro, NC, Javis Garris of Wadesboro, NC, De'John Pemberton of Matthews, NC, Jadarian Garris of Wadesboro, NC, and her very special nephew whom she loved dearly and treated like her own, Jayden Horne of Unionville, NC; four nieces, Dominique Garris of Chesterfield, SC, China Garris of Belmont, NC, Amya Garris of Rockingham, NC, and Veronica Smith of Unionville, NC. She is also survived by two uncles, John Gaddy of Wadesboro NC, Willie Bowman; three aunts, Gloria Gaddy of Wadesboro, NC, Mary Louise Garris-Bowman (who named her at birth) of Wadesboro, NC and Sallie Gaddy of Lilesville, NC.
Mary had a host of cousins and friends across the country who were touched by her spirit, kindness, and strength. Mary's vibrant personality, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for family and friends will be missed beyond measure.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home.
There will be no public viewing.
The family is meeting at the home of her mother on Davidson Lane in Wadesboro.
