Mary Magdalene Leak

HIGH POINT - Mary Magdalene Leak aka known as “Mag” age 72 was born on September 26, 1953, in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She will be remembered as a devoted family member, a caring friend, and a woman whose kindness and strength touched all who knew her. She will also be remembered for her strength, kindness, and deep love she had for her family and all who knew her.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and family member whose kindness and strength touched all who knew her. Mary was known for her warm spirit, quiet resilience, and deep love for her family. She cherished time spent with loved ones and took pride in nurturing strong family bonds. Her presence brought comfort, wisdom, and encouragement to those around her.

Mary graduated from West Deep Creek High School Class of 1971. After graduating she relocated to High Point, NC and was employed at Thomasville Furniture Company in Thomasville, NC. She later returned to Wadesboro and worked at Cuddy Farms for several years. Beyond her work, Mary devoted much of her life to caring for and helping raise several of her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as her own. Among them Marcell Leak, Freda Leak, Antron Leak, Radricas and Rondre Philips shared a uniquely close and nurturing relationship with her.

Mary truly cherished time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed doing puzzles, fishing, walking, dancing, and singing olde school songs while sitting in the house or on the porch.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Mary Ross Sturdivant Leak, three sisters, Linda Faye Leak Barringer, Bennie Mae Dickerson and Nettie Ruth Leak and one brother Thomas Leak

She leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue through her family and all who were blessed to know her. Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is survived by her loving daughter, Tanya Leak, High Point, NC her cherished grandchildren Jamesha Wall and Justin Wall, High Point, NC her beloved grandson Justin Wall Jr and her bonus grandson Tristan Williams, High Point, NC her siblings five sisters Roeather Leak, Wadesboro, NC, Betty Ann Robinson, Wadesboro, NC, Robin Elaine Leak, High Point, NC, Janice Leak, Wadesboro NC and Priscilla Leak, High Point NC and one brother Barry Leak, High Point, NC one brother in law Morris Dickerson, High Point NC and one sister in law Lilly Leak of Jamaica, New York three aunts Alberta Lamphley Asheville NC, Rosetta Ingram, Charlotte NC and Carolyn Sturdivant, Morven NC, two aunt in laws Marilyn Sturdivant and Mary Betty Ratliff and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The public viewing and visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday at the church.
