Melissa Rebecca Jordan Bobbi Gathings

Wadesboro- Mrs. Melissa Rebecca Jordan 'Bobbi' Gathings, 87, the youngest and last surviving child of the late, Harley Marion and Rebecca Jane Long Jordan, died Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. There will be a memorial service at 3:00pm Sunday, March 24, 2019 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Sarah Kalish officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Bobbi was born in Gulledge Township, Anson County, North Carolina on October 27, 1931. Raised in the McFarlan community and a graduate of Morven High School. She was a retired medical secretary and married to John Edgar 'Eddie' Gathings, until his death on October 14, 1999. Survivors are her son, John Gable Gathings; her niece, Sandra Jordan; her nephews, Johnnie Jordan Jr., Donnie Jordan, Ronnie Jordan and Lonnie Jordan. In additions to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brothers, Margaret J. Brooks, Johnnie Jordan, Marion Jordan and J.B. Jordan and her niece, Rebecca Brooks Smith. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowview Terrace and Jesse Helms Nursing Center for Melissa's care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anson County Writer's Club, P.O.
