MRS. MILDRED GOOD FREEMAN GOODWIN HOWELL WADESBORO - Mrs. Mildred Good Freeman Goodwin Howell, 96, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living in Wadesboro. The family will greet friends Friday, September 7, 2012 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Olivet United Methodist Church with a graveside service following in the church cemetery with Rev. Norm Jones and Rev. Clay Burr officiating. She was born April 18, 1916 in Little Switzerland, NC a daughter of the late James Alfonzo Good and the late Gabriella Lela Monfredo Good and spent her school age years in Thomasville, NC. In 1934, she married James Ray Freeman and they moved to Anson County in 1937, three sons, James, Charles and David were born to this union. James Ray preceded her in death in 1948. She later married John Goodwin, and they had three children, Lela, Stephen and Donald. John preceded her in death in 1983. She later married Jack Howell and he preceded her in death in 1997. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, James Lee 'Jim' Freeman in 2007 and by a granddaughter, Lisa Kay Freeman in 1970. She was a homemaker and long-time member of Olivet United Methodist Church. She spent a life of service and dedication to her family and church. Her most recent years, were spent as a resident of Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living in Wadesboro. Her legacy of love and selflessness lives on in her surviving family members; children, Charles Freeman and wife, Patricia of Lilesville, David Freeman and wife, Julia of Hendsonville, Lela Spriggs and husband, Ric of Belhaven, Steve Goodwin and wife, Sherry of Lilesville and Donald Goodwin and wife, Jobie of Wadesboro; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Freeman of Lilesville; her niece, Betty Jean Brooks of Port Charlotte, FL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church, % Martha D. Goodwin, 3788 Stanback Ferry Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
