WADESBORO - On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Mrs. Peggy Jordan Long, 89, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her bedside.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2025 by the graveside at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Storz officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service.
Peggy was born january 29, 1936 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Cleveland Jordan and the late Lillie Mae Dean Jordan. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School and had worked for nearly 30 years with ARA Food Services.
She was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church for more than 60 years and had served as a Sunday school teacher. She was active in other areas of ministry with the church and looked forward to trips with the traveling group from the church.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband, of 69 years, John Ellis Long; her sister, Josephine Dickens of Wadesboro; her sister-in-law, Eunice Jordan of Wadesboro and her nieces and nephews and their families.
Peggy and her husband, John were always together and they traveled over the United States, making many lasting memories. She dearly loved her family and being a part of a big family. She loved her church and church family. It is said of her that she always had a smile on her face and she never said a harm word and was always positive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Pauline Pegram, Sarah Dickens, Mary Frances Diggs, Cleva Mae Hooks, Marguerite Treadaway, Louise Paul, Jean Burris, Pete Jordan, Woodrow "Bud" Jordan and Cleveland Jordan, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 3373 Country Club Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
