Peggy Newton Morris, passed away peacefully on her 85th birthday at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill. Services will be 2:00pm Sunday, July 19,2020 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Workman officiating. Interment will be in Lilesville Cemetery The family will greet friends following the service. Peggy was born July 16, 1935 in Lilesville, NC where she was raised and was the daughter of John Wesley and Lola McDonald Newton. She graduated from Lilesville High School class of 1954. Following high school, she attended Massey Business College in Atlanta, GA for two years. Upon graduation, she went to work in Charlotte as CD Spangler’s personal administrative assistant for ten years. While in Charlotte she met her husband and they were blessed with three children. In 1989, Peggy returned to Wadesboro where she worked and retired from Walmart after twenty years. She was a loving and dedicated member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class. Surviving are her children; Ann Williams of Waxhaw, Charles Morris (Lynn) of Mooresville and John Morris (Colleen) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Zachary Morris. Nicholas Morris and Wesley Morris and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Cameron Hayes; and a very special niece, Audrey Hall of Morganton, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Carrie Bell Hunnicutt, Roy G. Newton, Rosa McLendon, Berta Dial Fint, Emma Newton, Wilson Newton, Helen Honeycutt and Gladys Stamp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
