Phyllis Ann Short Betsill was born January 26, 1956, in Cumberland County at Fort Bragg Army Hospital. She passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Edward Betsill and by her brothers, James Frank Short, Jr., Johnny Short and Ronald Short.
Phyllis was educated in the Anson County Public School System and was a graduate of Bowman High School.
Phyllis had various jobs, having worked in home health care, housekeeping at Days Inn for several years and most recently she worked in assisted living in Spartanburg.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Levenia Pratt of Rockingham and Stacey Short of Spartanburg, SC; her grandchildren, Gary Boggan, Cierra Pratt, Phillip Hailey, and Akella Hailey; her great-grandchildren, Raven Walker, and Kamhari Ellerbe; her God daughter, Katterica Mack of Spartanburg, SC; her brother and sisters, Willie Lee Short (Beatrice) and Teresa Short (Tim) both of Wadesboro and Delores Short of Charlotte, NC; her sisters-in-law, Juanita Short of Lilesville and Willie Mae Rice and Sarah Dawkins both of Spartanburg, SC; her aunts and uncles, Lucille Pratt and Ernestine Smith both of Wadesboro, Sarah Staton of Indian Orchard, MA, Linda McFadden of High Point, NC, Pauline McCormick of Columbia, SC, Merritt Short (Yvonne) and Johnny Short both of High Point, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
During a time like this we learn how much our friends really mean to us. Your expression of sympathy will always be treasured by the family of

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 25, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home . Interment will follow at Henry Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Lilesville.
Public viewing will be from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the funeral home.
