In the early morn of May 7, 2024, God reached down and plucked a beautiful angel; born Rosalynn Christie Liles, the second of two amazing gifts from God and the first and only daughter to Jackie and Roger Liles. Rosalynn, who was affectionately called “Christie as a result of a dream that her brother Rodney had about his mom having a baby girl, was loved so dearly by all who knew her. Christie had a radiant smile, beautiful dimples, an infectious laugh, and a heart of gold. She was so ambitious and one that genuinely cared about making the world better than she found it. Christie came from a loving family that adored her and made sure that she knew the Lord at an early age. Christie adored her family, was very protective of her mother, passionate about her four nieces and great nieces and nephews and strived to do right by everyone she met.
After graduating from Anson High School in 1995, she attended King’s College and received her certification as a phlebotomist. She began her career in education, first as a substitute teacher, but later taught special education and a number of different grade levels. While subbing, she completed her associate degree in Elementary Education at South Piedmont Community College. Afterwards, she continued her undergraduate work at Wingate University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
As a proud teacher in the Anson County Public Schools, Christie followed the footsteps of her beloved mom and many other family members, with the hopes of making a profound impact on the young people in Wadesboro and Anson County Schools. And with the help of God, she was able to do just that! Her creativity in the classroom won the hearts of so many of her students, as she made learning culturally relevant and exciting! She was so proud of the thousands of lives she touched in her career as an outstanding teacher at Wadesboro Elementary and Peachland-Polkton Elementary Schools.
As a young child, Christie was an active member of Gatewood Station A.M.E. Zion Church. Throughout the course of her life, she always leaned on God and knew where her help came from.
She leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Jacquelyn Liles, her nieces Katelyn Parson of Lilesville NC, Shantell Liles (Patrick) of Ansonville, NC, Seara Liles of Lilesville, NC and Shelby Clark of Lilesville, NC; her great-nieces, Jaonni Taylor and Skylar Parson; and great-nephews, Ken’yon Lindsey and Syncere Ledbetter; one uncle, John T. Liles (Cornelia) of Lilesville, NC, and four aunts, Mary G. Hall of Sickelville, NJ, Sarah Byrd of Polkton, NC, Loretta Byrd of Wadesboro, NC, and Brenda Pratt of Morven, NC, God-mother, Mae Teal, cousins-Franklin, Miriam, and Anthony Liles, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
There will be a service to celebrate Christie's life at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home.Thursday, May 16, 2024
